James Broughton is a Chicago architect whose abstract mixed-media works often incorporate construction related materials. Influenced and informed by over 40 years of modernist architectural practice, international travel and study, his intuitive vision as an artist is informed by an architect’s rigorous eye for proportion, depth, light and texture. His work explores the dichotomy between processes of construction and decay. It encompasses the built world, both physical and of the mind, and how it has been impacted by the toll of time and the natural degradation of materials. James’ work & practice finds energy, inspiration and beauty in the multiple facets and dimensions of the urban environment.
